Apparently when you're part of the royal family of Monaco – the second smallest country in the world at only 1.95 square kilometers in size (that's 0.75 square miles for us non-metric folk) – your wedding cake has to be enormous.

And when Prince Albert of Monaco wed his bride, the lovely Princess Charlene in July 2011 their cake was definitely the centerpiece of the reception.

It was a five tier cake and it dwarfed everyone and everything in the room. It was decorated with Proteas, the national flower of South Africa, which is the home country of Princess Charlene.

The top tiers of the cake featured decorative wands with stars and flowers on them and on the very top was something that resembled a cornucopia. Or maybe it was a seashell. Or maybe it was a seashell cornucopia. Either way, it definitely helped the towering creation look even bigger.

When it came time to cut the monster-sized cake, the couple opted to cut a much, much smaller version. But we're sure there was more than enough cake for all the guests, and quite possible all 37,579 residents of Monaco.

Of all the celebrity cakes we've covered so far, this one is by far the largest and most over-the-top. But we still love it.

The royal couple was also gifted a wedding cake and we featured that cake here.

Jesse Lenoir was a contestant on Project Runway a few years ago, and while his wedding cake is quite incredible I also have to point out that he designed the bridesmaid dresses for his wedding.

But let's talk about this cake.

The wedding took place in Florida back in March 2010, and one of the things I really loved about this cake was that it showcased flowers from the bride's bouquet including hydrangeas, white tulips, roses, and purple and white orchids.

This is such a unique way to keep the floral theme running through the wedding and reception.

The four-tiered cake was created by Creative Cuisine and featured red velvet cake with cream cheese filling, almond cake with raspberry filling, yellow cake with banana filling, and chocolate marble cake with Bailey's ganache filling.

While a couple of these flavors are your run-of-the-mill wedding cake options, I have to say yellow cake with banana filling intrigued  me.

Aside from the unique cake flavors, I also loved the simplicity of this cake's design – just some fresh flowers, silver ribbon around the tiers, and a super cute cake topper featuring the happy couple holding an engraved heart.

As celebrity wedding cakes go, this was was pretty, simple, and exactly what you'd expect from an up-and-coming designer.

This week's cake is a towering creation, but it's also very beautiful and floral.

When actress Marcia Cross (Desperate Housewives) married Tom Mahoney in 2006, she reportedly invited some friends to a cake tasting to help her choose the cake flavors. This is a genius idea, although my husband was more than happy to be part of our cake tasting.

At Marcia's cake tasting each friend picked her favorite flavor and the result was this stunning – and very tall – five tier wedding cake. The bride's favorite flavor was white cake with raspberry filling.
Just look at that cake, it's so pretty and summery with all those fresh flowers as garnish.

I absolutely love all the variations of roses and greenery.  I'm also a big fan of the rose petals sprinkled on the table for a little extra flower power. This might be one of my favorite celebrity cakes so far.

And since it was a celebrity wedding, I'm sure there were hundreds of guests at the reception, but given the cake's size, I doubt anyone went home hungry.

Or we can just call her ‘Fergie’ like everyone else does.

I always liked this royal couple – they seemed a bit more down to earth than Charles and Diana, sort of like an old school William and Catherine – and I was a bit sad when they divorced in 1996.

But maybe you’ve heard the news this week that Prince Andrew and Fergie are possibly reuniting and rekindling their romance!

As a hopeless romantic, I have to admit this “news” made me smile just a little bit. Which is why I’m featuring their wedding cake today.

This marzipan and rum soaked cake featured five tiers and was created by chefs at the naval supply school HMS Raleigh. The story is that the cake was large enough to be cut into 2,000 slices during the breakfast wedding reception where guests dined on lobster and lamb. Sounds like a perfectly royal reception to me!

(As a side note, I’ve also seen this cake mentioned as Prince Andrew and Fergie’s wedding cake, so I’ll admit I’m a bit flummoxed by the dueling cakes. But the very royal looking cake was featured prominently when I searched “Prince Andrew Sarah Ferguson wedding cake” so I’m going with it.)

When actress Elizabeth Banks married her beau Max Handleman at the Greystone Mansion in Beverly Hills they reportedly read love letters from their first year of dating rather than reciting vows.

Now if that isn't romantic enough, one look at their simple yet beautiful wedding cake and you know this was a spectacular affair.

The three-tiered squre cake was a chocolate and vanilla creation with white frosting. But my favorite part of the cake is that it is garnished with fresh orchids.

I love cakes that feature fresh flowers as their primary decoration – it makes the cake so vibrant and pretty. This would be a perfect cake choice for late spring or summer wedding. You can never go wrong with flowers on a cake!

So when I saw this lovely and simple cake I knew I had to feature it.

This three-tiered cake was created for the wedding of actress Jaime King anddirector Kyle Newman in November 2007. The cake was a berry and coconut creation, with simple yet lovely white frosting.

The cake's only decoration were multi-colored roses that matched the roses in Jaime's bouquet. (I actually did the same thing at my very non-celebrity wedding!) The red, pink, and yellow roses on the couple's cake made a simple cake simply beautiful.

As an added bonus, guests were able to take home a bag of sweets from vases of chocolates at a dessert table.

This four-tiered cake was created for the celebrity wedding of former Survivor contestant Stephenie LaGrossa and Major League Baseball pitcher Kyle Kendrick. Their wedding took place in California in November 2010.

Now the cake itself features lovely floral and lace-like designs on the tiers, but I want to talk about that “diamond” brooch on the top tier. It's made entirely of sugar! It looks so real and so sparkly, so the fact that it's most likely edible is mind-blowing. It really is my favorite part of the entire cake.

And because no wedding is complete without a groom's cake – the chocolate groom's cake was created in the shape of a baseball mit with a ball. Absolutely fitting considering the groom's occupation.

When I saw this cake, I admit I had to Google the “celebrities” because even though I'm a fan of ABC's The Bachelor and The Bachelorette, I didn't know who Chris Lambton and Peyton Wright were.

As it is, they were both rejected on national television and are now co-hosts of HGTV's home gardening show, Going Yard. And the happy couple was married on May 5, 2012.

This lovely two-layer white cake was their wedding cake and I absolutely love it.

There's nothing over-the-top about it – it's a white cake adorned with white flowers. It's sweet and simple and I'm certain it fit perfectly at their South Carolina wedding.

I'm not sure who the baker was for this cake, but the couple was married at the Wild Dunes Resort on the Isle of Palms with the help of wedding planner Samantha Martin.

This beautiful cake just goes to show that even though you're a celebrity your cake doesn't have to be celebrity-size.

May I present to you – the naked wedding cake.

This nearly frosting-less stunner was the cake at Hilary Duff's wedding to hockey player Mike Comrie back in 2010.

The three-tiered cake only had frosting in between the layers. The rest of the cake was “naked” – completely devoid of frosting. But I'm sure it still tasted great.

The cake was adorned with roses between each tier and the cake topper was an over-sized white rose. It's really a visually stunning cake – and not something many people would expect to see when it comes to celebrity wedding cakes.

The cake was the centerpiece of a dessert table that was full of the couple’s favorite sweet treats including mini strawberry shortcakes, lemon meringue tartlets, and s’mores bars.

So let’s talk about the cake. It was a four-tier vanilla and sour cream cake with peach-apricot preserves, and Earl Grey-milk chocolate butter cream. The cake was designed by Maggie Austin Cake in Alexandria, Virginia.

The delicate designs of the frosting and the understated decorations and floral cake topper really make this a stunning cake. It’s sweet and simple and perfect.
