I’d rather sit home and play Scrabble.

Scarbble

When I was a little girl I had a best friend named Maya. She was one of those people you knew was intimidatingly intelligent just by looking at them..when she was nine. Even though she was the editor of the yearbook and the star of the school play our high school principal once had the wherewithal to tell her she wasn’t a role model. She yelled at him and he was terrified of her until we graduated. True Story.

Another true story, she just got engaged. And fittingly enough her fiance spelled out “Will You Marry Me” on their Scrabble board while playing one night. I can’t imagine a more “Maya” way to get engaged. So of course when I saw this cake my mind drifted to thoughts of Maya and her impending nuptials. Let’s face it this cake is FUN! I have to believe that there is some reason behind the Scrabble cake and I wonder if the story is similar to Maya’s. If you take a look through janetmck’s Flickr PhotoStream you can see the entire process from start to finish! The cake is covered in fondant and the Scrabble board is hand drawn. Of course the words spell out the bride and grooms names and their wedding date! I am sure this cake was a labor of love..and I love it. I really think I would have had a hard time eating this one!
