This cake is my new favorite cake.

First, I love stamps. As much as I love all things technology, there is something to be said for “snail mail.”

I used to write to my pen pal (who just happens to live in England!) every few weeks when we were younger. I had boxes of letters, all with lovely British stamps.

Second, I love that someone was creative enough to think of using an “everyday item” like stamps to decorate a wedding cake. It’s genius!

And, it makes the cake a rainbow cake which I absolutely LOVE.

The time it must have took to hand cut each stamp – not to mention collecting all the stamps in so many colors!

And I can’t think of a better way to showcase all those gorgeous fruits than on a lovely white wedding cake!

People don’t often think about using fresh fruits as an embellishment on a cake, but it really is genius.

And, depending on the season you can use a variety of fruits.

I love today’s cake featuring cherries, strawberries, and blueberries. You can always substitute with raspberries or blackberries if those are your favorites.

This cake is simple and rustic and perfect for a late summer or early fall wedding. The addition of a wood slab just adds to the overall rustic look and feel of the cake.

So what better time to start talking about fall wedding cake, right?

I love the idea of having a rustic fall wedding – especially if it’s still warm enough outside to host an outdoor reception.

Which brings me to today’s wedding cake – it’s very rustic but also elegant, which isn’t an easy combination to pull off.

This simple, two-tier cake features simple white icing but the burlap and bow embellishment gives it a shabby chic feel. The third “tier” is really a tree-stump inspired cake topper and it is the perfect addition for this cake.

Me? I prefer mine with a big bowl of whipped cream and sans shortcake, but if someone was to offer me a slice of wedding cake adorned with strawberries I’m pretty sure I won’t turn it down.

Especially if that strawberry wedding cake looked like this beauty!

Sure, the strawberries on this cake are made from gumpaste, but I bet you could ask your baker to add fresh strawberries to your cake if they were in season.

The fresh berries will probably work best if they’re added at the last possible minute – no one wants strawberry-stained icing!

There’s a chill in the air, the leaves are changing color (at least around here), and I’m starting to see more fall decorations with a lot of orange and brown. So I figured it was a good time to feature a very fall wedding cake.

This is the perfect fall wedding cake – it has rustic colors, leaves, and even an edible tree stump as the cake’s base.

The three-tier cake is iced with a beautiful white fondant that is embellished with gum paste leaves and branches in oranges, browns, reds, and greens.

But I think my favorite part of this cake is the edible (!) tree stump that the cake is presented on. Your guests would never guess that it’s edible. And it just adds to the rustic fall feel of the cake. Perfect for your fall wedding reception.

And then there’s today’s wedding cake which goes beyond leaving one breathless.

This cake is downright stunning.

The four-tier “novelty cushion wedding cake” is another amazing creation from our friends at Hockleys Cakes over in the United Kingdom.

The cake’s intricate and delicate pattern was based on the bride’s wedding dress (I would love to see the dress!) and the top “cushion” tier was created to look like the pillow that held the wedding rings.

Can you imagine how beautiful this wedding must have been?

This cake is truly too gorgeous to eat – but I’m sure the guests enjoyed it nonetheless.

I love the intricate details on each of the cushion tiers – it’s so amazing the attention to detail.

How often have you seen a wedding cake shaped like a barrel? Never, right?

Well now you can say that you’ve seen it all.

I absolutely love the charm and humor of this wedding cake from our friends at Hockleys Cakes over in the United Kingdom!

The story behind this cake is that the reception was held in a rustic, traditional English pub and the cake was created to reflect the venue. Now that’s a pub I’d like to visit!

With the pretty flowers and ivy these have to be the prettiest pub-inspired barrels ever.

And I love that the cake is presented on a tree stump – it just adds to the rustic theme of the cake.

First, I love the bright blue hue of the icing for this three-tier cake. It could totally be your “something blue” on your big day.

And it’s so cheerful – it would be perfect at your summer wedding.

Then there are the buttons that adorn the cake. How often do you see a wedding cake with buttons? My guess is almost never. Which is what makes this cake so unique.

I love the whimsy of the brightly colored buttons – they are so non-traditional which makes this cake ideal for a fun, informal wedding reception.

Then, guests would purchase items from the china pattern and gift them to the new couple. I was one of those brides who registered for a china pattern. I’ve used it exactly once in the past 12 years.

But just because choosing a china pattern has fallen out of favor with some modern brides doesn’t mean your cake can’t be inspired by a china pattern.

There are hundreds of pattern from which to choose, but I really loved this gold band wedding cake. Not only does it replicate a lovely china pattern but it also speaks to the wedding bands the couple will exchange.

This white wedding cake is decorated with bands of gold ribbon while the olive branch sprigs represent fertility. This would be a gorgeous cake at a formal wedding.
