As much as I love showcasing fancy, out-of-the-ordinary wedding cakes every week, sometimes it’s good to get back to basics and show off a classic wedding cake.

This mulit-tier wedding cake is classic in its design but basic it’s not.

The cake features elaborate piping and icing designs of swirls and swags and pearls and more.

There’s so much to look at with this cake but it doesn’t seem overwhelming at all.

This cake would be ideal for a big, elegant reception.

You’ll want to make sure it’s the centerpiece of the reception so that your guests can ooh and ahh over the intricate designs and piping. They’ll find roses, grapes, latticework, garlands and more – all created with royal icing piped onto the fondant.

This is a truly classic cake.
