One of my favorite cookie is the macaron. And I love seeing macarons featured ON wedding cakes as a decoration.

Who needs fresh flowers when you can use fresh macarons? No one, that’s who!

Today’s wedding cake was featured as an “autumn cake” but honestly it’s elegant enough that it would be perfect at any time of year.

You could even choose to use bright colored macarons during the spring or darker colors in the fall or winter.

Today’s featured cake is the ideal summer wedding cake – a gorgeous white cake topped with sugar dipped cherries!

This cake is both elegant and whimsical. Take a look at the icing – it looks like envelopes on the side, folded over.

And the addition of the red cherries gives the cake the perfect pop of color that you’ll want at your summertime wedding.

If cherries aren’t your favorite fruit, you could add bright red strawberries to this cake instead. Both would be delicious!

I think chocolate cakes are perfect for fall and winter weddings – they’re dark and decadent and seem to fit in with the colors and themes at this time of the year.

A chocolate cake in the summer would just be too much. But in the fall, when it’s cold and blustery outside, it’s perfect.

And this chocolate cake adorned with sugared fruit would be lovely at your late fall or early winter wedding reception. It would also make a great groom’s cake!

I love that that bottom tier of the cake is round while the others tiers are square – it’s different without being too shocking. And the addition of the laurel leaves is the right amount of “floral” for the cake. Of course if you aren’t a fan of sugared fruit and leaves you could adorn the cake with fall flowers.

Which brings me to today’s wedding cake inspired by baskets.

I really like this five-tier cake for several reasons, including the fact that the icing color is rather non-traditional. It isn’t often that you see a mocha-hued wedding cake.

This cake is also unique thanks to the five different sized tiers. There’s nothing uniform about the cake – another reason I like it! The icing was applied with different size tips to create the different style of basket weave.

A cake like this would be lovely at a fall wedding – and there’s so much going on ON the cake that you really don’t need any kind of cake topper.

This wedding cake reminds me of my favorite ocean color – that sea green-blue when the water is clear and you can see to the bottom.

The three-tier cake features square cakes adorned with simple white icing and seafoam green Necco candy wafers.

Remember those candies? They’re round and colorful and a bit, um, chalky. But what they might lack in flavor they make up for in usefulness as decorations on a wedding cake!

I love the color of this cake – it’s perfect for your summer beach wedding. And, it can also be a DIY cake if you’re up for the challenge. Or you could just tell your baker what you want.

Sure, I’m normally a traditionalist when it comes to wedding cakes but there’s something unique about this cake.

In order for this cake to “work” at your reception you’ll need to have a modern color scheme and a modern vibe to the reception.

This cake won’t fit in if you’re looking to keep the theme of your reception simple and classic.

I think what I love about this cake is that even though it features orange, blue, and pink you could mix up the color scheme if you really want to and make it match your favorite colors. Or even mix it up to match the colors in your bouquet.

This cake would be lovely with bright pastel colors or even deep fall-inspired colors.

Which means I’m still looking for wedding cakes adorned with fresh flowers because they’re absolutely perfect for spring weddings.

This four-tier square wedding cake is elegant and simple and has a fresh feel about it.

The square tiers give the cake a modern feel, while the pearl icing embellishments add just the right amount of elegance.

And you can’t go wrong with fresh cattleyas for a floral addition.

Of course if you aren’t a fan of that flower you can always adorn your cake with a flower that matches your bouquet – giving your wedding cake an extra personal touch.

So, when I saw today’s wedding cake I just knew I had to share it with you because it looks delicious and it would be perfect for a spring or summer wedding.

This two-tier blackberry wedding cake is absolutely stunning thanks to the blackberries surrounding each tier.

The icing is also infused with crushed blackberries, giving it that gorgeous swirled look.

You could have any kind of cake inside, but I think something not-too-sweet would be best.

And of course, if blackberries aren’t your favorite, raspberries would be incredible on this cake and so would blueberries. Oh just imagine a lemon based cake and a light lemon icing infused with blueberries.

Oh that would be divine!

As I look outside I’m spying buds on the trees and tulips popping out of the ground and I’m convinced that the warmer weather is here to stay.

Which means I just had to find a gorgeous wedding cake today with springtime flowers!

This cake is that perfect springtime confection.

I love the square tier mixed with the round tiers. It gives that cake an elegant and glamorous feel. And the simplicity of the floral design is just perfect.

The pink and green flowers with that touch of orange is all the spring is just perfection. A simple cake topper – maybe a single fresh flower that matches the others – would be ideal.
