Brown Wedding Cake with White Flowers

The first day of fall is about a week away so it’s about time to start showcasing some gorgeous fall wedding cakes.

And while I’m not normally a fan of brown as a color, I do love brown wedding cakes. I think it’s because they look so dramatic and they really lend themselves to the fall season.

This dark brown wedding cake with white flowers is stunning.

The three-tier cake features a dark espresso colored icing accented with delicate white flowers and it is beautiful. Read More

Vintage Wedding Cake

bunting cake

As we cling to the last days of summer I wanted to showcase this cake because it reminds of an old fashioned summer fair.

This gorgeous two-tier wedding cake was created by our friends at Hockleys Cakes and they described it as typical English afternoon tea cake.

I love the elegant simplicity of the cake. The smooth white icing accented on each tier with small pearls lends an air of sophistication to the cake. The tiers are separated by white columns. Read More

Fun Wedding Favors – Leaf and Acorn Cookies

cookies

It seems as though I’m on a cookie theme this week. Or maybe I just need to bake some cookies.

Either way, I’m loving these fall-inspired cookie favors!

I’m a big fan of edible wedding favors. As much as I love non-edible favors I think most wedding guests would agree that something sweet to snack on is the best wedding favor. Read More

Single Tier Wedding Cake

pom pom cake

There is something to be said for a lovely one-tier wedding cake.

While I’m a fan of big wedding cake with many tiers and embellishments, I also think there’s no reason to go overboard on cake if you’re planning a small, intimate wedding reception.

If that’s the kind of reception you’re planning then you’ll want the cake to match the small setting. And that’s when you go for the single tier wedding cake.

But small wedding cakes don’t have to be boring – in fact they should definitely stand out and make a statement.

Like this beautiful one-tier cake topped with colorful pom poms.

It’s pretty. And simple. And perfect for a small reception. The silver pine cone is a pretty touch and gives the cake a nice fall feel. And of course you could personalize the pom poms with your wedding colors.

We found this cake here.

Oreo Cookie Wedding Cake

oreo wedding cake

I don’t know about you, but if I buy a package of Oreos it takes every ounce of willpower I have to not eat the entire package of Double Stuf Oreos in one sitting.

Which means I’m totally in love with this Oreo cookie wedding cake alternative.

What’s not to love? It’s made completely of Oreo cookies. Just give me a big glass of ice cold milk and I’ll see you later.

In all seriousness (Oreos are serious business after all) I really do love this idea. We’re talking about a three-tier “cake” created entirely of Oreo cookies. Read More

Fun Wedding Favors – Maple Syrup

OK, I know what you’re probably thinking – maple syrup as a wedding favor?

But you have to admit it’s totally unique and it’s not something you would expect as a wedding favor.

Which in my book makes it absolutely perfect!

Despite summer’s best effort to hold on, the temperatures are going to eventually give way to fall. And for some reason maple syrup reminds me of the fall weather. Read More

Fun Wedding Favor – Mini Apothecary Jars

favor jars

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – I love wedding favors that are “mini.”

Whether it’s mini rolling suitcases or mini bird’s nests, the smaller the favor the cuter it is in my book. Of course, it also has to be useful in some way or at least filled with something yummy.

Which brings me to today’s fun mini wedding favor – mini apothecary jars with lids! Read More
