White on White Seashell Wedding Cake
I hope you aren’t tired of beach-inspired wedding cakes, because I probably never will be.
I know that I’ve featured my fair share of wedding cakes that incorporate ocean elements over the last couple of years, like this Teal Seashell Wedding Cake from a wedding in Key West. Well, today’s cake has kind of an interesting story, too.
This cake was made for a recent wedding at Read More

Let Them Eat Cake: Sunday Round-Up for August 12, 2012
We are back from a little jaunt to the Southernmost Point in the US y’all, for one last summer hurrah before school starts! And while I dry out and give my liver a rest, I thought I’d entertain the both of us by seeing what went on in the world of wedding while I was playing in the (almost) Caribbean! But let’s Read More

For the Guys: Pint Groom’s Cake
I have beer on the brain.
I’m not sure whether it’s the two days straight that I’ve opted for meals in pubs, or if it’s the fact that I just spent an awesome week with a beer loving friend, but I knew it was time to feature that king of groom’s cakes: The Beer Cake.
But isn’t this cool? If I’m gonna drink beer, it’s gonna be a good one, and this replica of a pint of Guiness Extra Stout, with lots of cute changes made to the label to make it an original statement, is just awesome, and celebrates right where I am today. I don’t know if it makes me crave cake or beer, though. Either way, it’s good.
We found this fantastic cake on Pinterest, but if you’re after the look, it was created by the team at Pink Cake Box. We are huge fans of their meticulous work.

Cake Topper Friday: Soccer-Loving Bride and Fishing-Loving Groom Custom Cake Toppers
Whew! That title was a mouth full, eh? Well, what, pray tell, would you have called it?
This adorable custom cake topper comes from our good friend Beth Mottershead of Cakes by Beth in Manchester, England. I actually featured their cake, this beautiful Blue Squares Geometric Wedding Cake, a while back, but the sweet little figures that top the cake are so special that I thought they deserved their own space on the blog.
Aren’t they cute? The couple had a fun side, and so Beth decided to fashion Read More

Sky Blue Wedding Cake with Clouds and Roses
I love when I see a cake that I never, ever would have thought of, but when I see it, it’s like….YESSSSS.
Isn’t this just darling? Barely different sized layers on the bottom – is there a difference in size? – and the slight diameter difference continues up the cake. The on-purposeness of it is just enchanting. It’s like the baker said, Read More

Peaches Wedding Cake
We are a peach lovin’ family. No. You don’t EVEN understand.
Hubs is from the Great State of Georgia, and while we lived there, we waited with HUGE anticipation every year for the peach crop to come in. And since it’s kinda short, we would buy tons and just gorge ourselves on them. We’d freeze them. And they went into everything we could possibly think to use them in.
So, when I saw this beautiful cake on Southern Living Magazine’s website, I just knew I had to feature. It’s peaches, y’all! The peach-colored cake is covered with white dotted swiss and topped with a bow. But the real magic is the garnish of peaches and floppy peach colored roses and peonies at the base. The cake is also adorably displayed on an overturned bushel basket. Darling!

Yellow and Grey Chevron Wedding Cake
Yellow and grey are so hot right now. We are seeing them simply everywhere! And wedding cakes are no exception.
Isn’t this trio of cakes by Jasmine Clouser of The Couture Cakery darling? Where to start? The color combo is enchanting; I especially love how Jasmine used both bold and pale shades of yellow. The quilting on the large cake is divine. And the pearls! The varied heights of the cake rounds is awesome too, and keeps the whole cake from slipping into something too traditional. Add to it the juxtaposition of the flouncy peonies with the stylized simpler flowers, and it’s just all perfection!
Jasmine created this cake trio for a bridal show earlier this year, in conjunction with Weddings by JDK and Persnickety Invitation Studio. The sweets table that came out of this dream team collaboration is simply breathtaking! Gorg!

Orchid and Black Stencilled Square Wedding Cake
As much as I love a traditional wedding cake, I really dig when I run into something totally different that I haven’t seen before, anywhere. The other day, I ran across this example of just such a cake.
Kara Buntin of A Cake to Remember in Richmond, Virginia, has created some of my favorite cakes, to be sure. This orchid and black wedding cake just may join the ranks. I really appreciate the strong structure of the almost geometric black lines juxtaposed with the ultra feminine stencilling in a beautiful shade of orchid. That Kara chose to Read More

Let Them Eat Cake: Sunday Round-Up for August 5, 2012
Greetings, one and all! How does this lovely summer day find you? Well, I hope!
It’s been SUCH an awesome week here, y’all. If you’re a regular reader, then you know that I’m having a nice visit with my best friend, who flew in from half way across the country (and across what we normally call That Stupid Gulf) to spend a week. A week of Nowhere to Go, Nowhere to Be. Of sandcastles and ocean breezes. Of the full moon over the lighthouse. Of eating too much and laughing more.
Well, next week, it will be back to reality (after a quick trip to Key West to bid summertime, for all intents and purposes, adieu) but for now, we still have some playing to do! So let’s share a few minutes together, looking over the week’s wedding Sweet and Pretty, and then it’s back to the grind of the beach!
But what were we up to this week, first of all? Glad you asked!
On Monday, we featured this darling Minnie Mouse-Inspired Birthday cake. We think it would make an adorable wedding cake as well.
Tuesday brought these fantastic cube-shaped Deconstructed Wedding Cakes. I love this look!

For the Guys: Megeve Chocolate Groom’s Cake
For the boy who is a man and is getting married, and loves France, or chocolate, or skiing, or all of the above, I give you the Megeve Chocolate Groom’s Cake.
Named for the French ski resort town of the same name, this kinda looks like a big, delicious, chocolate mountain, doesn’t it? With its dusting of icing sugar, I’d like to swish my way down the side of it with a fork right about now. Beneath all those chocolate curls you’ll find discs of vanilla meringue sandwiched together with chocolate mousse. Yum and more Yum.
I found this deliciousness on Martha Stewart, but I spy a little “F” insignia in the front, and I’m wondering if it stands for Fauchon, a food emporium in Paris…also known as HEAVEN ON EARTH. (No. Seriously. Go there. Now.)
