Happy Wedding Day Kate and Will!
It’s impossible to post a picture of any cake today. Because we know that today somewhere in England..there will be a cake at a wedding to trump all other cakes.
I’m awake watching. Are you? Brooke and I are having a virtual tweet-up up on twitter. Come join us. Read More
Royal Jewels…Made of Sugar!
I know what you’re thinking…two posts in one day?! What!
Consider this my wedding gift from me…to you…no thank you note required. Oh, who am I kidding? I have Royal Wedding Fever. I’d post 14 posts a day if Brooke would let me. I indulge in her love of plaid..so maybe she would.
But I digress..again. Because this got me all kinds of excited today. Visualize the next few words I am about to type in your head Read More

Everything is Pink and Pretty
Just when I thought my cake resources where running a bit dry this beauty pops up!
First and foremost…is this not a beautiful picture?
Anyway, on with the cake! I adore pink. It’s my absolute favorite color on the planet. However, I personally think that pink wedding cakes can be…well…let’s be honest…tacky. I don’t know why, but baby pink on a cake just doesn’t do it for me. This cake strikes my fancy though. The first tier has a sophisticated pink and cream diamond pattern. The second has pink fondant stripes. But what really sets it apart are the adorable tiny dark pink fondant flowers that are scattered across the cake. To. Die. For. Instead of a cake topper, this couple decided to play with the dark pink color and add some dark pink gerbera daises.

Shopping for the perfect Bridesmaid and Groomsmen Gifts
I have three loves..blogging, eating, and shopping. Since I often combine my love of blogging and eating (hello, cake), today I decided to combine blogging with my other love: shopping.
More specifically, I’m talking Bridesmaid and Groomsmen gift shopping. I am sure I am not alone in this but I had the HARDEST time coming up with a bridesmaid gift. I had eight bridesmaid ranging in ages 14-26. Seriously, I was stumped. Should I go with something different for everyone? Should I find something generic that would suit them all? And, most importantly, how could I buy eight nice gifts for the most Read More

‘Something Blue’ Wedding Cake
This is the cake for the bride who just can’t figure out where to add her something blue.
This stunning cake is finished in fondant, with different treatment for each of its three layers: the bottom layer features a quilted pattern; the middle layer has buttercream piped in an intricate-yet-uniform swirl, with an accent of random, baby blue dots; and the top layer is peppered with dots in a triplicate pattern. And, in a move that we haven’t seen Read More
Tate & Lyle Sugars’ “Let Them Eat Cake” Contest Winners Announced
A royal wedding calls for a royal cake baking contest.
Tate & Lyle Sugars, a UK-based sugar refinery, recently hosted a contest, “Let Them Eat Cake,” in which the winners would create a wedding cake fit for, well, a Royal Wedding. They received over 120 entries, and the judges awarded two winners. My personal favorite is this winner created by Cassie Lawrence and Gemma Peat from Truro, Cornwall, featuring an edible Read More
Lilac, Gray and Plum Desserts
Purple, purple, purple!
So here is a fact. Devoting an entire table to lollipops, cookies, cupcakes, macaroons, and cake at your wedding may in fact send one into a sugar shock. Luckily, this particular photo is just a table set up by the talented Shauna Young for the Minneapolis/St. Paul Weddings Magazine Bridal Party. The cake in the center is gorgeous with fun fondant flowers decorating the tiers. I’m not even sure Read More
