Cake Topper Friday: Love Blocks

msw

Raise your hands and shout “yahhh” if you’ve got a thing for Martha Stewart. Let’s face it. There is only ONE Martha Stewart and I loves her. I seriously don’t think I’ve ever met anyone that said they hate Martha Stewart–well maybe people who know her personally–but like her stuff and her style…I just don’t think anyone can hate her. If you hate Martha Stewart style you probably kick puppies. Or, you don’t…whatever.

My point? I do have one. I fell head over heals for this L-O-V-E Block Cake Topper that was found on Martha Stewart Weddings. The topper consists of four blocks spelling out the word love. My favorite part is the gorgeous teal bow that is wrapped around the boxes that coordinates with the fondant stripes around the base. On a somewhat random note I used to have a silver piggy bank that looked just like this topper. Anyone else…or was that just me?

What do you think? Do you share a love for Martha or are you not such a fan? Do you think it’s weird she used to date David Letterman? That’s a couple I can’t see together. Oh well…too bad it didn’t work out. They would have had a gorgeous cake.

Lemon Lime Wedding Cake

lemonlime

Maybe this only happens to me…but I fall in love with bakers. True story.

I fall in love with them and then every single cake I see just kind of blows my mind and suddenly my palms get all sweaty and I kind of want to marry them (marry them in the way one would want to marry a baker I guess) and then I start sending them embarrassing tweets like “Hi..I love your cakes they are great.” And then I spend the next few hours checking my Twitter to see if they’ve replied back while slapping myself on the forehead and muttering Read More

Auburn Wedding Cake

auburn

I am so torn about posting this because I have a shameful secret. I love Auburn.

I know, I know, this is SUCH a crisis because I also live and breath the South Carolina Gamecocks. Like a good South Carolina girl growing up I loved my Gamecocks. I even spent a year after college running the store inside the football stadium. Steve Spurrier knew who I was. Okay, let’s Read More

Rock Candy Wedding Cake

rock candy

I’ve had this cake pinned on Pinterest for months. What kept me from posting it? Well, for a long time I had nothing but the picture and in case you haven’t noticed I like to ramble and what good is rambling if you don’t know what you’re talking about?

Even though it’s been sitting on my pin board just waiting to be published I loved it from the start. It’s a gorgeous traditional three-tiered round cake covered in flawless white fondant. As you can tell the fun doesn’t stop there. To add a little pop of color and some fun to this cake, rock candy was added to the base of each tier. That’s what you can tell from the picture. What you can’t tell just from the picture is that this cake was just a player in a fun and whimsical Read More

Rice Krispy Cake Part Two

RCT

Here’s a conundrum I am having. Perhaps you English majors out there could help me. I know the brand is “Rice Krispies” but if I use it describing a cake does it become Rice Krispy or Rice Krispie? OR, do I leave it as Rice Krispies Cake because technically there is more than one krispie involved in this bad boy. If only I knew how to insert a poll on the blog. Dilemma.

Anyway, on with what we are here for. Wedding Cake. More specifically a brand spanking new version of the amazing Rice Krispy/Krispie/Krispies cake that I featured last month. Only this cake is more official since it comes from the Rice Krispies recipe website! And bonus, it has a recipe so you can attempt to tackle the Rice Krispie wedding cake yourself. You can check out the recipe and picture here. I wonder how many boxes 57 cups of Rice Krispies would be?

Personally, these cakes are amazing and if I attended a wedding or shower where one of these was the cake I would probably ninja kick anyone who got in my way. How do you feel Read More

Let Them Eat Cake: Sunday Round Up for September 11, 2011

Austin Yellow and Grey Cupcakes

Okay.

So, I know that we’re all about the Sweet, the Pretty, the Happy Endings around here.  And Happy and Hope are what make the world go ’round, and keep spinning.  But I can’t, I just can’t, have that date in my title, without at least acknowledging that on this date, ten years ago, many people lost their lives in a tragic, senseless, pre-meditated way.  And even though I am doing my best today to bring a little lightness to the world, I can’t ignore Read More

Wedding Favors: Sending Your Guests Home with Cookies

Blue Tile cookie

From children’s birthday parties to weddings, we seem to be sending guests and friends home these days with a little something extra to help them remember the magic of the celebration.  And why not?  Your guests have spent their money and time to help you celebrate your special occasion.  A little gift is the perfect way to say “thank you.”  And I am of the mind that a useful gift, or a gift that can be enjoyed and consumed in some way, rather than just something that sits around Read More

Cake Topper Friday: Disney Pumpkin Patch Cuteness

Mickey Pumpkin cake toppers

Happy Fall Everyone!

Yes…I know it’s technically not fall.  And I know it’s literally still in the 80s and 90s oh…everywhere, prettymuch.  But, you see, I can’t help myself.

There are two things I love (well, there are many things I love…but the “two things” work here, so we’ll call it poetic license.)  I love fall.  And I love Disney.

So you can imagine how hard I flipped when I saw this ab fab cake topper on Etsy!

Sweet Pixie Pie will customize your very own Mickey and Minnie Pumpkins for the top of your adorable fall wedding cake!  Yes, dreams really do come true!  The toppers are custom-made (obviously) from polymer clay.  Clearly, this adorable topper is destined to become a keepsake long after the “I dos” are done.

Check out Sweet Pixie Pie’s Etsy shop for more deets!  And Happy Early Fall, y’all!

Massive Floral Italian Wedding Cake

Massive Italian Wedding Cake

To begin…a couple of points about this cake.

So…I don’t normally feature pictures that are obviously snapshots.  And I don’t normally feature pictures that have people in them.  But I searched and searched for a not snapshot-y, non-peopled picture of this cake, and couldn’t find one.  And this cake?  Must Be Featured.

Just look at it!  I have never, in all my days on this earth (and I won’t tell you how many of those there are) seen a cake of this scale.  In it’s own way, it’s bigger than Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s cake, and that one was pretty large.  But the depth of the layer on this cake are truly astounding.  Really, I Read More

Geometric Shapes with Roses Cake

Roses and geometric shapes cake

Happy Fall, Y’all!

Well…fall-ish. Reports are tricklin’ into me from all over the country, from friends who are waking up to cooler breezes, nicer temperatures…my friend Matt in Texas even told me it cooled down to 90 in Austin yesterday.

But here in Florida, I’m manufacturing my fall Read More
