Emerald Green Wedding Cake

Hockleys Cakes, Unit 3 Ferro Fields, Brixworth, Northampton.Michael Hockley teaching how to make sugarpaste people on one of his cake decorating courses.

Before I saw today’s wedding cake I will admit that I never once thought about green as a wedding cake color.

But this cake – courtesy of Hockleys Cakes – has me singing a different tune!

I absolutely love this emerald green cake. It is so stunning and so unique and will leave other cakes “green” with envy!

And it isn’t just the green color of the cake that has me saying WOW – it’s that brooch. Seriously that is just downright incredible. And stunning. And it adds to the rich look and feel of the cake. Read More

Light Green Wedding Cake

green wedding cake

I might have mentioned recently that green isn't a color I often go to, except when it's the holiday season.

However, I am loving this mint green confection and would adore it at any time of the year, holiday season or not.

The color of this cake is so cool and really creates a beautiful cake when paired with the white embellishment and lillies as decoration. Read More

Striped Green Wedding Cake

The holidays are the one time of year when I really enjoy the color green.
It's just such a festive color when it's paired with the other holiday hues like silver, gold, and red. And this cake really caught my eye because it features more than just one shade of green.

While it might look like the cake is wrapped with fabric, each tier of the cake is actually wrapped with bands of chocolate (yes, that's chocolate!) with stripes in varying green hues accented with white to make the greens really pop. Read More

Petits Fours For a Wedding

Petits Fours Wedding Cake

I heart petits fours in the biggest, old-fashioned way imaginable.

They’re so darling and so delicious, and you can look at their meticulousness and just tell that they took oodles of time and care to put together.  I love them so much that they keep being featured at my big events, like my wedding shower (and later at my baby showers – both of them!)

Had it occurred to me all those years ago, Read More

Black and Green Damask Cake

Black and Green Damask

Hello..my name is Christen and I would like to introduce you to my new boyfriend.  Or girlfriend..it seems like this cake has a little too much class to be a boy.  Either way I’m sure it’s delicious.  At least it looks delicious, that is.

Black and green usually isn’t a color combination that jumps out at me.  It actually sort of reminds me of bruising…but I digress, because in this instance it makes perfect sense.  The four-tiered cake has alternate Read More

Tartan Cake, Part Two

Tartan

Remember a few months ago when Brooke admitted her deepest darkest secret about her love of all things plaid and we all just nodded and smiled and hoped the men in white coats would be nice to her?  Well Brooke, and other plaid lovers, this cake is for you.

Another spin on a tartan inspired cake made by the Whipped Bakeshop in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  I love how this cake takes the time honored tradition of a family tartan and combines it with a clean and modern crisp Read More

A green cake..for St. Patrick..

st pats

Top ‘o the mornin! Erin go braugh! Eat yer Lucky Charms!

As you can tell by my greetings it must be St. Patrick’s Day. So pull up your potatoes and let’s have a green beer & talk cake shall we?

I must admit..I searched high and low for a St. Patrick’s Day themed wedding cake. Wouldn’t you know that St. Patrick’s Day themed weddings are not entirely popular? By the way, if you’ve had one please e-mail me pictures for SPD ’12. Thanks.
The best I could come up with was this lovely green(ish yellow) cake. While it may not scream “St. Patrick’s Day” it does fit in with the theme I am going with here and will allow me not to get e-pinched..right? A green wedding cake is hard to pull off..but I love the way this cake looks! The icing is a cool yellow-green and topped with a gorgeous flower. To me the flower almost looks edible. I can’t be sure but a girl can dream. The cool thing about this cake is that it is a smaller sized version of a much larger layered cake.
