Pretty in Pink Wedding Cake

peach cake

I wasn’t always a fan of the color pink. It took becoming a mom to two girls to really bring me around to the many shades of pink.

I love seeing different pinks used in wedding cakes – and it always reminds me of the line from ‘Steel Magnolias’  when Shelby says “My colors are blush and bashful” and her mother responds with “Your colors are pink and pink.” Cracks me up every time.

Today’s cake is a light peachy-pink hue and it’s absolutely perfect for a spring or summer wedding. Read More

Peach and Pink Wedding Cake with Ribbons

mwa104426_win09_peach_ck_hd

Every February I flirt with the idea of picking pink as a favorite color.

Maybe I’m inspired by all of the hearts and flowers that abound at this time of year. Or maybe it’s because I secretly really like pink just a little bit more than I’m willing to admit.

Either way, I am loving this pink and peachy confection that I found!

As soon as I saw this cake, the line from Steel Magnolias ran through my head.

“Your colors are pink and pink.”

“My colors are blush and bashful.” Read More

Eyelet and Pearl Peach Wedding Cake

Peach Eyelet Wedding Cake

Peach eyelet and pearls make this wedding cake a summer stunner!  And the monogram seals the deal.

Jenniffer White from Cup a Dee Cakes worked with this couple to create a one-of-a-kind cake.  They knew they wanted to use peach and eyelet in the overall design, and Jennifer used a special fondant that would hold up to the cutouts.  The rest of the cake is iced in flawless buttercream, and is trimmed with pearls and the couples’ monogram.

There are so many beautiful Read More

Let Them Eat Cake: Sunday Round-Up for February 19, 2012

Peach wedding cake

So…how was it?  Your Valentine’s Day, I mean?  All that you hoped for?  Or did you have the occasion to make the day special for someone else?

I love all the DIY around Valentine’s Day.  I mean, sure…there’s no shortage of kitschy stuff you can buy at your local MegaMart.  I did, in fact, espy a car with a red Mylar “Be Mine” balloon the other day – which prominently featured the oh-so romantic Spongebob.  But cutting out red and pink paper hearts, and gluing them (not gluesticking them, mind you) to white construction paper – maybe even with a doily – that’s good stuff Read More

Gumpaste Flower Cake

gumpasteflowers

This cake makes me think of the Roaring 20’s.  I am not sure why…but to me it just seems like it should be saying, “Hello friends, welcome to my boudoir.  Do you see me?  I’m covered in pearls and pink”.  Of course cakes don’t talk…but…if they could I bet that’s what this one would say.

This cake was made by Mary from the blog Apron of Grace.  We’ve featured her on here before with her Rose Cake a few months ago.  One of my favorite things about Mary is she tries to use all natural ingredients in her food as much as possible.  Let’s face it, sometimes you just need something processed.  I love this cake not only because it speaks to me in a 1920s accent…but it is the flowers that set me Read More

I don’t know what it is but lately I have been finding some unique themed wedding cakes. It seems like it has been a LONG time since I’ve featured a traditional sweet and pretty wedding cake. For most of us, weddings are all about the sweet and the pretty.

Let Them Eat Cake: Sunday Round-Up for May 15, 2011

Peach wedding cakes

Spring Showers are bringing May flowers, and I don’t know about where you are, but we’re already hitting the hazy, lazy, crazy days of summer here in the Southeast.  Oof, I would like spring back, please.

But no complaints.  Hot weather means a slowdown to work, and taking some time off – unless you’re in the wedding industry, that is.

In looking around this week, we’re just astounded at the beauty and talent that surrounds us.  There has never, ever been a better time to plan Read More
