Spring has officially (finally) sprung!
The birds are chirping, the flowers are blooming, and to celebrate all things spring, it seemed appropriate to showcase a lovely floral cake today.
I love this idea of this featured cake, because it also includes gorgeous cupcakes with pretty pink frosting and flowers! Read More
I love cupcakes. And if given the chance I’d serve cupcakes at every celebration I host, including a wedding reception.
Sadly, when I was married all those years ago the wedding cupcake trend hadn’t happened yet.
But now that cupcakes are all the rage, it is the perfect time to add some cupcake fun to your reception dessert table!
I love the idea in today’s featured cake photo – a small wedding cake (for the newlyweds) and cupcakes for all the guests. You could have so much fun with this concept – think of the flavors you could have with those cupcakes!
You could choose seasonal flavors, classics like white and chocolate, and even fan favorites like red velvet (my all-time favorite cake flavor).
And to add even more deliciousness to the party, make sure you have cute take-home boxes and enough cupcakes for you guests to take one for the road.
You’ll find this cupcake and cake tower here.
While wedding cupcakes are still a trend some brides really want to stick with tradition and have that wedding cake. But what if you could do both?
That’s right – let them eat cake AND cupcakes!
I love the idea of keeping the traditional wedding cake as part of the reception – it is easier to cut a slice of cake than it is to share a cupcake with your new spouse. Read More
I absolutely love cupcakes and had they been the “in” thing all those eons ago when I tied the knot, I would have totally served cupcakes at my wedding.
And these golden cupcakes would have been at the top of my list of favorites!
The cupcakes are carrot cake – which isn't everyone's cup of tea, I know – but I'm sure you could adjust the cake flavor to something you liked if you aren't a fan of cakes made from carrots. Read More
I remember that we flirted a little with chevrons last year, and I’m happy to see them representin’ again in 2012.
Isn’t this a darlin’ little cake? I love the sassy little polka dots that bring just the right pop of color, and the ruffly peonies say summer pretty in such a lovely way. Really, are there any prettier flowers for a wedding than flouncy peonies?
The demure size just lends to the charm. We could see this design translated to any number of hot color combinations (teal and chocolate? grey and yellow? blue and green?), and the design would be darling on a cutting cake and matching baby cakes or cupcakes or cake pops – oh my! And Read More
Most of my friends know by now that I have a vested interest in all things wedding cake. It’s not unusual to get a phone call or two from one of my bride-to-be friends asking questions about wedding cakes. The other day I had such a phone call. One of my good friends has a little sister that is getting married. My friend called me up last week and said, “Christen..what do you know about cupcake bars?”
I knew nothing about cupcake bars. Visions of happiness Read More
So, I know that we’re all about the Sweet, the Pretty, the Happy Endings around here. And Happy and Hope are what make the world go ’round, and keep spinning. But I can’t, I just can’t, have that date in my title, without at least acknowledging that on this date, ten years ago, many people lost their lives in a tragic, senseless, pre-meditated way. And even though I am doing my best today to bring a little lightness to the world, I can’t ignore Read More
So, we’ve seen many cherry blossom wedding cakes of late. But until now, I hadn’t seen yellow blossoms…and I am in love.
This cake, covered in fondant (ohso appropriate for the casual elegant outdoor reception), is trimmed with a meandering branch that spans all three layers. Daintily perched on the branch are pale yellow blossoms Read More
Cupcakes are probably the Lord’s perfect food. I’ve accepted that fact. For weddings, most cupcakes are dolled up with mile high buttercream frosting and look adorable to boot. Sometimes though…you just need a pretty cupcake layered in chocolate ganache.
These adorable cupcakes are frosted with a thin layer of ganache and topped with a gorgeous light pink bow. I also think the random pink cupcake with the chocolate bow tie on the bottom tier is adorable Read More
