The Heir to Blair talks Wedding Cake

BA

I am SO excited today to bring you all our very first guest post. When I sat down to think about who should have that honor I could think of no other blogger than Blair from The Heir to Blair Blog. There she blogs about her cutie-pie son Harrison, her struggles and victories as a working mom all while balancing her family life.

However, before there was an Heir to Blair there was a man named Nate who she married five years ago today. You can tell just by reading her blog how ridiculously in love and in awe she still is with him. Today she is going to talk about Read More

Classic White Round Fondant Cake

bea

On my first day of graduate school I didn’t know a soul.  By the end of the day I had two brand new friends and a date for sushi later in the week.  One of those friends was named Bea and she was the first person I’d ever met that owned more than one piece of Chanel.  Not just the kind of Chanel that I had (that my cousin bought me off the streets of NYC from a guy named Paco) but the real kind. Her collection not only included a purse but sunglasses and a pair of shoes.  The good thing about Bea was that she wouldn’t rub it in your face.  If you asked her if it was real she would tell you that it was but other than that she was pretty low-key about the whole Chanel thing.  Another cool thing about Read More

Rosette and Flower Wedding Cake

rosettes

When this photo popped up on flickr today I almost fell out of my chair.  Just LOOK how gorgeous it is.  The flickr page gave me little info so I knew I had to go digging…and digging I went.

I found the baker of this beautiful cake to be Victoria of Victoria Made.  Much to my surprise we featured another one of her beauties last month.  Check out that other post and decide which one is your favorite.  It’s difficult for me to choose but I think I’m sticking with this one.  I love the light blue and white color scheme.  This cake includes a double height tier at the base (a new trend which I am loving lately) that is covered in Read More

Isn’t this just one of the prettiest things you have ever laid your eyes on?

I fell in love with this cake the MOMENT I saw it.  Ethereal, lovely, lady like, gossamer blossoms.  What description would you add?

Four layers of stacked cake, absolutely blanketed with lovely white sugar flowers, each with Read More

Butterfly Cake with Nest Topper

Final Cake: portrait details 4

I’ll admit I am totally into DIY house projects. I am always painting, sanding, or replacing something. It’s something I totally enjoy and my husband tolerates. But nothing makes me want to throw things at him more than when we are working on tough project together.

Never…would I ever…be able to bake and construct Read More

Classic White Wedding Cake with Chocolate Scrollwork

Brown N Blue

Here is something I love. Taking a classic cake and giving it a little bit of pizazz! I love how this cake is a simple four tiered round cake with a gorgeous slate blue sash around the base of each tier. Beautiful and classic yes?

Oh wait:  let’s throw on a gorgeous dark brown (I’m assuming chocolate which… Read More

Bow Wedding Cake

McBryde-Dorion Wedding

It occurred to me that it has been awhile since I featured a straight up classic wedding cake that wasn’t consumed by dignitaries and former Spice Girls.  So today will be that day.

This lovely cake is a replica of a gift box.  This is the sort of gift that I like the receive..three tiers and completely edible.  In lieu of a topper, Read More

And the Oscar for “Best Cake Featured at a Wedding” Goes to..

kates cake

Fiona Cairns.

Duh.

Late Friday afternoon while I was still at work, my partner in crime all things Wedding Cake sends me a link with the picture of the most beautiful wedding cake I have ever seen.

The cake was eight tiers-tall, and Fiona Cairns and her team spent five weeks prepping for the event.  We already know the innards of the cake were traditional English fruit cake.  Seriously, I need to get to England and try some of this “fruit cake” because the only fruit cake I’ve ever had comes wrapped in red saran wrap at Christmastime and tastes like…well… Read More
