Flashback Friday – Prince William and Kate Middleton’s Wedding Cake
It’s time for another wedding cake flashback, and this time it’s all about the eight-tier “traditional English fruit cake” served at the wedding of Prince William to Kate Middleton. (I always feel like I should call her Princess Kate, not “Kate Middleton”…I mean, I’m sure she’s changed her last name by now, right?)
Anyway, the first thing I want to know about this cake is Read More
Let Them Eat Cake: Sunday Round-Up for July 24, 2011
Hiya!
So…how are you keeping cool during this scorcher of a summer? We’re fanning and heading to the beach and drinking plenty of iced tea. And while summer is scorching the rest of you, it’s just plain ole’ normal hot here in Florida.
But the heat hasn’t stopped the deliciousness that is a summer full of weddings. We’ve seen some Read More
Prince Albert and Charlene Whittstock Wedding Cake
So it might not be the fairytale of William and Kate but I have to admit I love a good royal wedding.
On Saturday, Prince Albert II married Charlene Whittstock in a religious ceremony in Monaco. The two had a civil ceremony on Friday, July 1. Charlene Whittstock is a former Olympian. She competed for South Africa in the 4 x 100 meter medley and her team placed fifth. I probably watched it because I am sort of an Olympic-a-holic. There were several high profile guest such as Naomi Campbell and Karl Lagerfeld. Other than his brief appearance on an episode of The Girls Next Door you probably recognize Prince Albert as Read More
And the Oscar for “Best Cake Featured at a Wedding” Goes to..
Fiona Cairns.
Duh.
Late Friday afternoon while I was still at work, my partner in crime all things Wedding Cake sends me a link with the picture of the most beautiful wedding cake I have ever seen.
The cake was eight tiers-tall, and Fiona Cairns and her team spent five weeks prepping for the event. We already know the innards of the cake were traditional English fruit cake. Seriously, I need to get to England and try some of this “fruit cake” because the only fruit cake I’ve ever had comes wrapped in red saran wrap at Christmastime and tastes like…well… Read More
Happy Wedding Day Kate and Will!
It’s impossible to post a picture of any cake today. Because we know that today somewhere in England..there will be a cake at a wedding to trump all other cakes.

Tate & Lyle Sugars’ “Let Them Eat Cake” Contest Winners Announced
A royal wedding calls for a royal cake baking contest.
Tate & Lyle Sugars, a UK-based sugar refinery, recently hosted a contest, “Let Them Eat Cake,” in which the winners would create a wedding cake fit for, well, a Royal Wedding. They received over 120 entries, and the judges awarded two winners. My personal favorite is this winner created by Cassie Lawrence and Gemma Peat from Truro, Cornwall, featuring an edible Read More
A Royal Wedding Cake Profile: A look at Fiona Cairns
It was announced earlier this week that Fiona Cairns has been chosen by Prince William and Kate Middleton to bake their wedding cake. I’ve been eagerly counting down the days until my all night Royal Wedding Slumber Party (there will be one guest in attendance…that would be yours truly.) Since I am obsessed totally pumped about this wedding, I had to do a little digging on one Fiona Cairns.
I hit up the Fiona Cairns website and found Read More

If I was Kate Middleton..
I reserve the right to file this post away under “In Christen’s Wildest Dreams”.
Blog Confession. Sometimes I pretend I am the Wedding Planner for the Royal Wedding & I think about what I would suggest to Kate and Will. Because that’s what I call them because we are close and best friends. We are also going to go skiing in the Alps in the late winter. You know after all the commotion of the wedding dies down. The husband and Will get along smashingly and drink pints and talk about futball while Kate and I talk wedding. I don’t even make them Read More
Kate and William: The Royal Wedding
I have a secret to admit.
I am obsessed with the upcoming royal wedding for a lot of reasons. I love Kate Middleton..as her doppelganger (albeit she is way skinnier and much better dressed than I..but that Doppelganger week on Facebook I was totally her..) Mostly I am obsessed because I know that this wedding is going to set the tone for so many weddings in the next few years. Every girl dreams of being a princess on her wedding day..but becoming an ACTUAL princess on your wedding day..it kind of takes my breath away.
With all the chatter of the upcoming wedding I wanted to do some research on the LAST big royal wedding. Read More
