Wedding Cake with Red Roses
Nothing says “love” like a red, red rose.
We see proof of that each week on a certain very popular television show where seemingly reasonable adults go a little crazy at the prospect of getting THE rose.
Obviously the rose is a powerful flower.
So what better flower to use to accent your wedding cake than a dark red rose?
I absolutely love this cake and how the stark white icing is accented by the rose petals. Read More
Wedding Cupcakes: Let Them Eat Cake and Cupcakes
Sure, cupcakes were all the rage for weddings in 2013 and that trend is likely to continue this year.
But if you’re looking for something that goes beyond “just cupcakes” why not consider serving a wedding cake and cupcakes! That’s right – it’s the best of both worlds.
I saw this whimsical idea here and just had to share it with you because it’s really brilliant. Read More
Chrysanthemum Wedding Cake
This cake might be called the “chrysanthemum wedding cake” but in my humble opinion it looks more like something the Snow Queen created.
I love the dramatic spikes on this cake – it's just so stunning.
The three tiers of this cake are accented by spiky petals created by stark white meringue and the effect is incredible. No other embellishment is needed on this cake – it's just so breathtaking on its own. Read More
Snowflake Wedding Cake
I have begrudgingly accepted the fact that it's not going to get warm anytime soon and snow is very, very likely here in the Midwest.
And so, I decided to share a cake that evokes that wintry feeling – the snowflake wedding cake.
You have to admit, even if you aren't a fan of snow this is a beautiful cake.
It's a six-tier stunner frosted with Swiss meringue that really looks like snow. And the royal icing snowflakes grow in size from top to bottom, giving the effect of falling snow. Read More
Daisy Wedding Cake
I have mentioned my love of daisies before, and since we're in the middle of the week I thought I'd share a cheery and happy daisy wedding cake again.
You can't look at daisies and not feel happy inside, so they're really a perfect flower to feature on a wedding cake. Everyone at a wedding is already smiling from ear to ear, so why not keep the happy theme going with your cake? Read More
White Roses Wedding Cake
Earlier this week I featured a non-traditional chocolate cake that was stunning but certainly less-than-formal.
Today we're going in a different direction with this very beautiful and very formal white rose wedding cake.
The rose is the ultimate romance flower and the white rose signifies purity and and love. Which makes it the perfect flower to use on your wedding cake. Read More
Flashback Friday – Prince Albert and Princess Charlene’s Wedding Cake
This week's installment of Flashback Friday has a royal twist to it, simply because when I saw this cake I was shocked at its sheer size and just had to share it with all of you.
Apparently when you're part of the royal family of Monaco – the second smallest country in the world at only 1.95 square kilometers in size (that's 0.75 square miles for us non-metric folk) – your wedding cake has to be enormous.
And when Prince Albert of Monaco wed his bride, the lovely Princess Charlene in July 2011 their cake was definitely the centerpiece of the reception. Read More
Flashback Friday – Brittany Berkowitz and Jesse Lenoir’s Wedding Cake
This week's Flashback Friday features another reality TV star – and while they aren't really celebrities – sometimes they do have really amazing wedding cakes.
Jesse Lenoir was a contestant on Project Runway a few years ago, and while his wedding cake is quite incredible I also have to point out that he designed the bridesmaid dresses for his wedding.
But let's talk about this cake. Read More
Lucky Horseshoe Wedding Cake for Friday the 13th
Today is your lucky day – even if it is Friday the 13th!
I discovered that there is a lot of old folklore on the interwebs about how getting married on Fridays can bring bad luck, but I say pish posh! Go ahead and get married on a Friday. And if you're feeling especially lucky, throw all caution to the wind and get married on a Friday the 13th! (In case you're wondering, there's still one more for this year – December 13, 2013).
