Let Them Eat Cake: Sunday Round-Up for August 19, 2012
Greetings and salutations!
I have a question for you: why, oh why, does it take going back to school for kiddoes to make life suddenly make sense and seem orderly again? I think that’s hitting the nail on the head. It’s a sense of order. A sense of order that my household has been sorely lacking since the Great Homeschool Experiment of ’11.
Homeschooling parents? God bless ‘em. We found out that a) this career girl may not be cut out for that kinda thing; b) my daughter may not be, either. So maybe we’ll revisit in a few years. Or maybe not. You don’t know until you try it, and for now, we’re gonna throw the towel in.
What does this have to do with weddings? Oh, Read More

Let Them Eat Cake: Sunday Round-Up for June 17, 2012
Happy Father’s Day to all of our dads out there! While we are fixin’ to set out on a beach picnic (I know…tiresome…that’s how we celebrate everything, it seems), I love showing you what we’ve been up to all week, as well as checking out what our friends are doing with their extraordinary gifts and abilities. Let’s start with our some pretty cakes, brought to you by, well, US!
On Monday, I shared with you what is destined to be one of my most favorite cakes EVER – the Teacup Wedding Cake.
Tuesday brought with it Shades of….Purple, when Kasey shared a lovely Read More

Peanut Butter Addiction Cake
Peanut butter and chocolate…is there a more heavenly combination? But seriously I am full-fledged Reese’s addict, and this cake is a dream come true!
I came across this blessed jewel on Pinterest but it originated from the lovely Cup A Dee Cakes. They classified it as a groom’s cake but I happen to think that it would be a great non-traditional (and yet still traditional) wedding cake.
And if you didn’t swoon over the copious amounts of Reese’s cups on the cake get ready for the deliciousness inside! It is a dark chocolate cake covered in peanut butter buttercream frosting. I’m in heaven ya’ll!
Now if you will excuse me I am off to satisfy my Reese’s craving while you all contemplate the amazingness of this cake!

For the Guys: Star Wars Groom’s Cake
Oh. My. Star. Wars. This cake by Anna Cakes of Winter Springs, FL is all kinds of amazing!
I grew up in a house filled with Star Wars. My little brother was in elementary school when they released Episode I The Phantom Menace, and it played non-stop in our house for years. I swear I can probably still recite it to you. There may have also been a few epic light saber battles that went down in our kitchen (much to my mother’s dismay).
So when I saw this cake I was Read More

Combination Wedding and Groom’s Cake
This cake caught my interest on Pinterest. Why? Because I feel like it summarizes my life. I am a teacher so I spend most of my days sticky sweet and annoyingly traditional. However, every once and awhile I can easily flip to the dark side and my kids think “Hey, she’s a little nutty”.
So. That’s me. Half a traditional beautiful white cake and the other half a gorgeous chocolate groom’s cake. I have never seen a cake like this and to tell you the truth, I love it. The couple decided Read More

Cake Topper Friday: Chicago Cubs Cake and Topper
I’ve always had a thing for Wrigley Field.
This from the girl who just two short weeks ago asked her husband who won the Super Bowl. (Answer: The Cardinals…he has learned that I really just don’t care enough to attribute the right names to the right sports. Of course I KNOW the Super Bowl is football if I thought about it. Most of the time I simply don’t care to think).
Anyway. My thing for Wrigley Field dates back to the first time I saw Sleepless in Seattle and they show a flashback of Sam (Tom Hanks) and Maggie (dead wife) Read More

Groom’s Cake: Ice Cream and Cake and Cake
Two things that go together in my book..ice cream and cake. Oh yes.
While it may be next to impossible to have an ice cream wedding cake (frozen fondant..yuck) let’s give the boys what they want and have an Ice Cream Groom’s Cake. Check out this pretty Chocolate Ice Cream Groom’s Cake. It’s a simple cake, as most groom’s cakes tend to be, but check out how it is garnished in whip cream and chocolate chips. Yummy. How could Read More

Let Them Eat Cake: Sunday Round-Up for April 10, 2011
We will confess right here and now: it is terribly difficult to keep your figure when you spend hours a day reading – and occasionally sampling – the MOST luscious cake confections available on Planet Earth. Thank goodness for a gym and a handy walking path (oh, and a hubby who cooks delicious, healthy food), or I may balloon to the size of a small dirigible.
But we’re happy for Spring and lots of Spring-y things! Here in the southeast, we’re getting the first strawberries, and they’re inspiring us to make all kinds of yummy treats.
But you didn’t come here to hear me wax poetic about gaining weight and Read More

Chocolate Zucchini & Raspberry Cupcakes
So..not exactly a wedding cake..but I saw this picture and I couldn’t handle the loveliness of it all. These cupcakes are zucchini and chocolate flavored (oh yes..who knew that something that sounds so wrong could be SO right?) I would not mind eating my vegetables if they could always be ingested with chocolate. The tiny cakes are topped with cream cheese icing Read More

Baseball Grooms Cake
My husband really loves baseball. In a throw down featuring Christen vs. The Atlanta Braves, I am not sure who would win. With the Braves’ first Spring Game with their new coach Alan Butts at the reigns coming up, my husband has been counting the minutes this week.
So in honor of baseball fans everywhere..I bring you..the Baseball Grooms Cake! I actually don’t know if the bride and groom who own this cake are Braves fans, but I like to think so since the colors are blue and red. I like how this is a simple, two tiered square cake topped with a baseball. The ball is Read More
