Snowflake Cake
We loves us some Kara Buntin of A Cake to Remember around here. Yes. We do. So, is it any surprise that I choose to wave goodbye to 2011 with one of her cakes? Probably not.
I am a firm believer in the Twelve Days of Christmas, y’all. In our home, Christmas isn’t over until the Wise Men have come and gone on January 6 (that’s the Epiphany, by the way, in case you are wondering what in the world I’m talking about.) Only then does the tree come down, and all the pretty decorations are tucked lovingly away til next December.
But, even I realize Read More
A Look Back: Christen’s Favorite Cake Posts of 2011
Exactly one year ago today I jumped on-board this bandwagon called A Wedding Cake Blog. It’s been a great year and I have literally been up to my eyeballs in frosting ever since. I’ve talked about cupcakes, traditional cakes, very blue cakes and been introduced to Cake Pops and Mini-Cakes. I’ve over-shared..I mean really..who knew that a simple wedding cake could inspire so much random blubbering? So on the eve of the eve of the New Year I’ve decided to take a look back at my top ten favorite posts of Read More
New Year’s Cake..sort of.
So I’m wrapping up Christmas Cake Week 2011 today with this very non-Christmas cake. I know what you must be thinking. This cake has nothing to do with Christmas..Winter or even really New Years. I’m thinking a little outside of the box here so just roll with it. Focusing on the new year is all about time. Minutes, days and months pass and then a new year begins. I could get all existential here and Read More
Silver Pinecone Wedding Cake
I’m not going to lie. The day I figured out that spray paint + pine cones = amazing winter accessories for my house I kind of went nuts. When I figured out that I already owned silver and gold spray paint AND my backyard was littered with pine cones so in essence this DIY decoration was free…I kind of flipped out.
I’m sure these pine cones aren’t exactly spray painted (something about that seems incredibly unsafe to be near your edibles) but they are a gorgeous silver on top of an ice Read More
Winter Birds Wedding Cake
Did you gasp when you saw this cake? I did! If you didn’t go ahead and take a minute and look at it again. Okay, now you’re gasping.
Simply gorgeous. This cake was made by Brooklyn Cake in..well..Brooklyn of course! The website says this as well and I totally agree but you don’t have to just do red and green or silver and white to have a cake full of holiday cheer! We are moving beyond Santa and Snowflakes this year people. Of course if you’ve Read More
Winter Pine Tree Cakes
So maybe my local radio station stopped playing Christmas Carols at approximately 8 p.m. last night. I, however, am still brimming with Christmas Spirit from head to toe. So that combined with the plethora of gorgeous winter wedding cakes abound I’ve decided to continue Christmas Cake Week 2011 (CCW11 for those “in the know”). Although, this week we’ll try and focus on more Winter themed cakes Read More
Merry Christmas From A Wedding Cake Blog!
We hope that our greeting finds you happy, healthy, and surrounded by friends and loved ones this beautiful Christmas Day.
We’ll be rounding up a little later today – we can’t resist the temptation of sneaking off to find all the sweet and pretty that the Read More
Nutcracker-Inspired Cake
I don’t know about you and yours, but around our house, we love The Nutcracker Suite. It’s become quite the little tradition in our family, playing the music, watching the video (I favor the old Baryshnikov version), and using the lovely decorations to dress up our home. Even my one year old has become fascinated with moving the soldier’s mouth back and forth.
So, of course, I had to share this beautiful cake with you. Inspired by The Nutcracker, this gilded beauty is the handiwork of The Pastry Studio in Daytona Beach, Florida. From owner and executive pastry chef Sherri Meyers, I learned that the festive Read More
Winter Wonderland Wedding Cake
Early this week I featured this Holly Cake from The Pink Cake Box and I promised there would be more treats from The Pink Cake Box during CCW11!
I told you about a dream I had once. For a winter wedding that included a white horse drawn carriage, (faux) fur muffs and shaw, and white gloves up to my elbows. The problem with this dream December wedding? South Carolina can be a little persnickety with the whole winter weather situation. Like today. It’s 76 degrees. Last Christmas it snowed.
Anyway, had I gotten to make my winter wonderland dream a reality, this Read More
Christmas Mini Cakes
I know I’ve said this before..but if cake pops are in 2011 what cupcakes were in 2010..then consider mini cakes the new cake pop which are the new cupcake.
Can you follow that logic? Probably not.
But just wait til you see the mini cake beauties I have lined up to bring in 2012. Unfortunately, none of them were Christmas-themed. That is, until I found this one. This Christmas mini Read More
