Green Wedding Cakes

Green is not the most common color for a wedding cake, but there’s no reason that green can’t be beautiful. Any color can be striking if used appropriate and there are plenty of cakes that make great use of the color green.

Let Them Eat Cake: Sunday Round-Up for March 4, 2012

Pan Am Wedding Cake

Holy Macaroni!  We are in to March, y’all!

How was your Leap Day?  To you stand an egg on end or get your broom to stand up all by itself?  (I didn’t know about these things until March 1 and did not partake in the fun therefore.)  Plenty of jokes swirling Read More

Pink and Sage Green Graduated Layer Wedding Cake

Pink and Sage Wedding Cake

My girl crush on Erica O’Brien was documented here (and here and here) long ago.  So you will not be surprised to find out that, as I was getting my feet wet on Pinterest today (I know…where have I been??), one of the first cakes I pinned, without even knowing it, was one of Erica’s pretty cakes.

Oh, there is just something about the way she works!  Everything is so clean and uncluttered, so original and crisp.  When I went to research this cake, I of course found three more that I love LOVED.  Look for those over the next few months.

This gem is palest pink with an earthy, silvery sage green ribbon Read More

Bright Green Wedding Cake with Dogwood Blossoms

Vibrant green wedding cake

Spring strikes again!

One of my very favorite signs of spring (when I used to live in a place that had such things) were the dogwoods blooming out every season.  Ah.  Breathtaking, and as intoxicating as that first warm day when you are so super tempted to go barefoot through the damp, soft grass.  So this cake caught my eye in about a second.

The vibrant grass green color is the perfect choice Read More

Reindeer Wedding Cake

Somehow Christmas Week is upon us. I seriously am not sure how though. It seems like I was just sweating my baguettes off every time I walked outside…but apparently six months have passed since then. Although, it was 79 degrees on Friday. What’s up with that, weather gods?
Anyway. It’s Christmas Week and I am off for the next two weeks and since Christmas has come out of nowhere I have to cram all my Christmas spirit into the next six days. So I officially title this week Christmas Cake Week 2011! And because Read More

Zen-Inspired Wedding Cake

Zen Cake

I super need some Zen today.

I am running a half marathon tonight – my first ever race, and I pick a half marathon – and I’m a little nervous about it.  My poor family.  I’ve been a little on the crabby side this week.

But then I remembered that I had this lovely, Zen-inspired cake tucked away in my “favorites” file for just the right time…and lo and behold, here it is.  Just the right time.

Just looking at this cake calms me the heck down.

Isn’t it elegant?  Four tiers, trimmed in black, Read More

Green, Pink and Bunting Flag Cake

bunting

I’ve been pretty down and out on pink and green as of late.  In fact I think I had pretty much shunned the idea of the pink and green color combo in all aspects of my life.  Seeing the colors together made me want to scream out words like, “dunzo”, “passe”, “that’s so 2009″.

Ahem, now go ahead.  Ask me what my wedding colors were.  Pink and green.  Oh yeah.

I have a secret.  Today I have fallen back Read More

Yellow and Green Wedding Cake

lime greeb

I love when I find a cake that is like nothing else I’ve never seen before.  After awhile all cakes start to resemble one another and I like to throw in an eclectic cake just to keep it interesting.

The originality in this cake comes with the coloring.  I cannot remember Read More

Emerald Ribbon and Diamond Brooch Wedding Cake.

Emerald Green Ribbon and Diamond Brooch Cake

I. Love. This. Cake.

I think it’s everything that a wedding cake for an evening wedding should be.  It’s stylish.  It’s elegant.  It’s dressed up.  It’s refined.  The colors are used sparingly, but with dramatic effect.  And they are hues Read More

The Heir to Blair talks Wedding Cake

BA

I am SO excited today to bring you all our very first guest post. When I sat down to think about who should have that honor I could think of no other blogger than Blair from The Heir to Blair Blog. There she blogs about her cutie-pie son Harrison, her struggles and victories as a working mom all while balancing her family life.

However, before there was an Heir to Blair there was a man named Nate who she married five years ago today. You can tell just by reading her blog how ridiculously in love and in awe she still is with him. Today she is going to talk about Read More
